Hello everyone! I’m Laura DeAngelis. If this is the first time you’ve landed here, thank you for stopping by. To all my repeat readers, thanks for sticking around! It’s hard to believe it’s been nine years since my very first blog post. It’s even harder to believe how much the world has changed since then. Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined a pandemic would change the course of our daily lives in 2020.
When I started this blog in 2011, I thought I’d be posting mostly about fitness routines, nutrition tips and ways to avoid injuries. However, I quickly learned taking care of one’s health and well-being goes way beyond keeping up with an exercise regimen and following a healthy diet. There are so many other crucial components including getting enough sleep, managing stress and finding those precious moments of “me-time” in an increasingly challenging world. Then there are the “game changers” – marriage, divorce, death, illness, changing addresses, changing jobs – the events that affect us physically, emotionally and even spiritually. So, my blog evolved into more of an in-depth journal, where I’ve shared my life-changing happenings and how my passion for fitness and healthy living has helped me through each and every one.
Fun fact: In 2019, I spent 16 weeks prepping to compete in my first (and possibly my last!) fitness competition, the NPC Brooklyn Grand Prix. I came in third place for my height class (5’7″ and taller) in the Bikini Novice Division. (Click here to read more about that bucket list experience.)
